According to reports Liverpool are very close to landing Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy.
The 20-year-old has impressed for the Latics in a season where they narrowly avoided dropping out of the Premier League.
Only a victory at Stoke City on the final day of the season secured the club’s top flight status.
With Chelsea reportedly interested, Liverpool are moving quickly to land the starlet who only a year ago was turning out for Hamilton Academicals.
“It is 90 per cent done, all sides now seem to accept it is going to happen and it's a matter of everyone trying to get the best deal,” a source told Goal.com.
The deal is believed to be around £10 million.[/url]

Anyone heard anymore on Al-Habsi and Craig Mackail-Smith?
I know we've bid £3m for Ali but don't know if it's been accepted and I know our £3m bid for Mackail-Smith has supposedly been accepted by Peterborough but not sure how things are going.
Anymore rumours?

Ali confirmed the 3 mil bid was rejected. Word coming from Bolton is they want 5 mil (I think they'll settle at 3.5/4mil) and reassurance from jussi over his future (ideally a new deal?)
With regards to cms, he is on holiday until next week. I still doubt that we are the club who has had a bid accepted.
Personally I've heard nothing on transfers besides what we already know. I was however told that Newcastle will sell Jose Enrique to liverpool once they have secured the services of the Swansea LB. Was also informed earlier that united would have one I. And one out this week. An hour later they are linked with a 15mil bid for jones of Blackburn!! I believe the player leaving to be wes brown but not yet confirmed
